Is heating with wood environmentally friendly?

Heating with wood is very environmentally friendly. Wood is a renewable energy source and when it burns it only releases the level of carbon dioxide that was absorbed by the tree during its growth. Wood is therefore a CO2-neutral fuel and does not contribute to the greenhouse effect. An additional benefit for the environmental balance is that wood can be processed in an environmentally friendly manner; it is normally only transported over short distances and it is stored easily without damage to the environment. Heating with wood means preserving nature for the benefit of future generations.

Why is heating with wood healthy?

Woodburning and pellet stoves generate healthy thermal radiation or radiant heat. This is predominantly produced from the natural wood firing process which has been derived from the traditional basic stove principle. During the firing phase this heat is transferred to the stove's heat storage material where it is retained. Even when the fire has extinguished this radiant heat is emitted for hours via the storage material that makes up the outer casing of the stove (particularly sandstone or soapstone).

Radiant heat is generated with long-wave infrared radiation in accordance with the principle of solar radiation. This heat, in contrast to convection heat, is not emitted via the heated ambient air, but through direct thermal radiation of the stove casing material. It feels very comfortable on the skin and stoves that operate with this heat generate an even and dust-free environment.

Environmental commitment by RIKA

Environmental preservation and your well-being are of equal importance to us, which is why we are continuously developing the technology that we use. Only by doing this can we meet the present challenges and offer you future-oriented products. All RIKA woodburning and pellet stoves generate fine dust levels and concentrations of carbon monoxide that are well below the values required by law, thereby ensuring they are suitable for operation in the future without any restrictions. Furthermore, our RIKATRONIC modulating air supply technology, the patented air control system (RLS), as well as our innovative PELLET STOVE technology also enable you to heat effectively and economically, while generating a maximum degree of efficiency.
